Job Description

Greet visitors at the Front Desk and provide information about the Gallery’s collection, exhibitions, events, publications, and membership. Knowledge of art history with the ability to answer general questions about the works on view. Process sales at the register and assist with museum store inventory. Maintain the entrance area's appearance and presentation of merchandise. Assist in restocking books, postcards, and ephemera. Support Gallery-wide activities with other departments. 

Job Requirements

Must be able to work Tuesdays 10:00 am–5:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am–5:00 pm during the whole summer.

Have an amiable personality and willingness to help others. Be a team player who is flexible and able to work well in stressful situations. Must be comfortable and respectful when interacting with visitors, staff, students, alumni, and surrounding New Haven schools. Previous customer service experience and knowledge of art history. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Additional duties as assigned.

Gallery Hours:

Tuesday–Friday              10:00 am–5:00 pm

Thursday (Sept.–June)   10:00 am–8:00 pm

Saturday–Sunday           11:00 am–5:00 pm

 

Compensation $16.25/hour
