The Event Coordinator at the Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions coordinates logistics and executes events planned by the Center and in coordination with other organizations, working closely with the Center’s Project Manager, Magalà Bazzano. The Event Coordinator is involved in every step of the planning process, creating event descriptions and marketing materials, organizing venues and catering, communicating with administrators and attendees, and being the point person for event logistics from start to finish. During a typical semester, the position has a steady workload, but responsibilities increase leading up to and on the day of an event. Past events have included student meals in the lab, retirement events for affiliated faculty, and research symposiums. Experience attending on campus events or prior event planning positions will provide the applicant a strong foundation for the position. Miscellaneous tasks include creating spreadsheets for the Center, assisting the social media team, and communicating with professionals within and outside Yale. The position requires a keen attention to detail, time management skills, creativity, and strong interpersonal communication. Applicants should also have experience with Canva and Microsoft Suites. Applicants should have the ability to work independently on projects, asserting their own judgement over project details in the moment. |
