The Yale Center for Environmental Justice seeks a team of communications and events associates to amplify YCEJ’s goals through supporting effective communications and dynamic and engaging events during the fall semester. We work with over 30 faculty and centers across Yale as well as in communities around the world to remedy the key drivers of injustice while co-creating generative solutions for a just and sustainable world. Our communications and events are essential to advancing these goals. YCEJ is looking for student fellows with the ability to connect this broader purpose with the small details that come together to make a meaningful experience. About YCEJ Anchored by a growing team of renowned scholars and activists, the Yale Center for Environmental Justice addresses multiple existential threats whose roots lie in environmental and social injustice. We work with over 30 faculty and centers across Yale as well as in communities around the world to remedy the key drivers of injustice while co-creating generative solutions for a just and sustainable world. The Center is ramping up significantly this year to lead a global conference on Environmental Joy, launch an online certificate program to move significant resources for clean energy projects into EJ communities, expand EJ research and education across Yale, offer new courses in Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, Tribal Co-Management and Energy Justice. Additional Information Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Strategic Communications Planning: The Fellows will work with Center leadership and faculty to craft a year-long communications strategy to advance EJ and the Center’s goals. - Responsibilities also include communication strategies for releases on Tribal Co-Management and Land Justice papers
Events and Programming: Coordinate two panels at the Yale Club in NYC during Climate Week on “The Business of Climate Justice” and “Climate Migration” Contribute to framing events and selecting speakers in close collaboration with YCEJ faculty, staff, and partners. Collaborate closely with co-hosting centers, programs, and learning communities to identify shared goals for programming. Perform outreach activities and organize the logistics and communications of events to promote shared goals including event accessibility Establish a communication plan with partners to cross-promote events with a coherent frame Develop short profiles to highlight the work of local partners involved in YCEJ programs and events Coordinate partners to support social media posts or other communication to promote events with their community members as needed. Other tasks as assigned by YCEJ staff Communications Craft and execute a year-long social media strategy Website management including event promotion and archiving, supporting YCEJ staff in additional website roll out phases Manage newsletter including curating content and coordinating with contributors Collaborate with social media associate to communicate YCEJ’s priorities, highlight internal and external partners, promote events, and direct users to website-based resource ith other campus partners, community-based organizations and the Center's leadership. |
