Job Description

The Medical Historical Library contains one of the nation's best collections of current and rare history of medicine books as well as a growing archives program. Student assistants will be working in the Historical Library on a variety of tasks, although archives processing will be the priority.  Tasks include: inventory; assisting with processing rare books to get them ready for the library shelf; working with collections; rehousing materials; processing archives under the guidance of our Archivist; working on exhibits or special projects with the Historical Librarian or Curator; and other duties as assigned. Hours are flexible but within the time frame of M-F 9-4:30. We are looking for students who love variety in the type of work they do. Security check required for this position.

Job Requirements

Familiarity searching Orbis and/or Quicksearch by a variety of fields; comfortable using Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, etc.); ability to lift books and push loaded book trucks; familiarity with other Western European languages desirable in order to check foreign language titles. Interest in or experience with handling and working with library and archival materials. Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy. Compensation $17.00/hour
