Job Description

Working under the Sr. Administrative Assistant II and the Dean of Student Engagement, the Student Engagement division in the Yale College Dean's Office, seeks a Graduate Assistant to provide day-to-day administrative office support assisting with various areas in The Office of Student Engagement https://yalecollege.yale.edu/get-know-yale-college/directory/student-engagement

Assist with the execution of some of Yale College’s annual events and programs including Family Weekend, Yale College Nakanishi Prize, Yale-Harvard football game, and others. Responsible for developing/updating web and social media presence for the office of Student Engagement. Help coordinate two key annual events: University Family Weekend and the Yale College Nakanishi prize.   

Nakanishi Prize: Communicate with departments gathering information from student nominations and various sources in preparation for virtual presentation, direct contact with students to collect their materials for presentation. Work-related will start in early April. The final virtual presentation takes place in the month of May/Commencement week for graduating seniors https://yalecollege.yale.edu/life-yale/student-faculty-awards/nakanishi-prize

Work with Family Weekend director and administrate assistant once a year on various details related to Family Weekend at Yale. https://yalecollege.yale.edu/events/family-weekend

Work with director of FGLI https://fgli.yalecollege.yale.edu/

Assist the administrative assistant with various day-to-day tasks such as setting up meetings (setting up room, screen/computer set up, move tables/chairs when needed). Flexibility to accommodate requests to ensure the smooth functioning of SE unit. Other duties as required based on departmental needs.

This is a one-year position (renewable after one year). Work in person and hybrid depending on office needs/TBD.

 

 

Job Requirements

Excellent organizational skills and possess the ability to take initiative on assigned projects, Ability to manage many details at once, ability to work efficiently & independently and as part of a team. Preferred knowledge of Yale College, particularly the residential college system, and cultural centers at Yale.

  • Technical knowledge: Excel, Word, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, knowledge of building content using Canva https://www.canva.com/ or any other similar platform is a plus to create online presentations (As necessary, will consult with our Web Team to troubleshoot matters). Microsoft OneDrive is a must to create and share files.

The position is 8-10 hours per week up to 19 hours during peak times WITH A MINIMUM COMMITMENT OF 8-10 HOURS WEEKLY PER SEMESTER.

Compensation $20/hourly rate for graduate assistants.
