Job Description

The Yale Office of Sustainability seeks a Social Media Assistant (5-8 hours/week) to create and develop sustainability-related social media content and to boost the visibility of Yale Sustainability’s social channels. Reporting to the Communications Officer, the responsibilities of the Social Media Assistant will include:

- Participating in weekly meetings to plan content for Yale Sustainability social media

- Researching, creating, editing, and packaging stories and visual content for social media, including original captions, photographs, and video

- Documenting sustainability-related events and activities around Yale to share on social media

- Researching sustainability-related topics for monthly campaigns

- Supporting social media outreach – particularly aimed at students

Job Requirements

This position is open to all undergraduate, graduate and professional school students. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter with demonstrated experience in social media and/or marketing, and comfort with basic graphic design software (Canva) and digital video creation and editing tools. Familiarity with and passion for sustainability is preferred, but not required. Candidates with prior experience managing social media for established organizations is preferred. Candidate should have the ability to create engaging social posts within Yale Sustainability’s current style guidelines, and be a clear and punctual communicator who is attentive to deadlines.
