Job Description

The Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscripts Library is looking for a detail-oriented individual to operate our bookeye scanner during the summer session. This individual will scan rare and fragile material from the Beinecke collections to fulfill digitization requests. May perform other clerical duties as needed in the department.

Job Requirements

We are looking for current Yale students who can work between 10 and 30 hours a week during the summer session. Hours are Monday thru Friday any time between 8.30am and 5 pm. We do NOT have weekend or evening hours. The job requires accuracy, attention to detail, ability to follow directions for handling special collections material (with training), ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgement. The work requires computer skills needed to operate advanced scanning equipment. The applicant should be able to push book trucks, climb short ladders and step stools, and to lift material within a limited weight range of about 25-30 lb. We prefer applicants with prior library experience, humanities background and advanced computer skills, but we will consider qualified applicants from a variety of backgrounds. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.

Compensation $17.00/hour
