Job Description

The Department of African Art seeks up to two Nancy Horton Bartels Scholar Interns to assist with preparations for a special exhibition, “Nguni: Migrant Nations of Southeast Africa”. Working with James Green, the Frances and Benjamin Benenson Foundation Associate Curator of African Art, the intern(s) will be involved in all steps of exhibition development, with a focus on developing audio content for the Smartify app for objects in the Gallery’s collection as well as related works in public and private international collections of African art. Applicants should have an interest in pursuing a museum career, the ability to work independently, and a strict attention to detail. A background in art history, African studies, or a related field is desired. These positions will be based at 215 Park Street, and regular weekly attendance is expected.
