Job Description

Bass Library seeks a Library Peer Mentor to provide mentoring and support for Yale College undergraduates. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Learning Engagement, new Library Peer Mentors will be trained to lead peer-to-peer library workshops. Mentors will gain a strong foundation in research skills to support their own academic endeavors and will use these skills to help support peers.

 

Library Peer Mentors should be available to teach at least two workshops per week, including any preparation and follow-up consultations, after 5pm or on weekends (approximately 2 hours/week). Mentors will also with librarians to discuss the program and plan for the week ahead (30 minutes/week).

Job Requirements

Previous experience using Yale Library, its website, and resources is preferred but not required. Applicants should have an interest in research, libraries, and/or teaching. Work with librarians to develop ways to improve student engagement in library workshops. Applicants must be comfortable presenting to small groups, both in-person and on Zoom. Applicants must have availability after 5pm during the week and on weekends.

 

Compensation $16.50/hour
Job Level CY25: Level I
