Job Description

Yale Veteran & Military Affairs (VetMil) supports students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The office assists veterans in accessing services and resources both within and external to Yale. VetMil will coordinate processes and programming to enhance the veteran's experience while uniting our Yale community. The Graduate Assistants (GAs) report directly to the University Liaison and work with professional and student staff to works with professional and student staff to create events, programs, and services that support community, education, and advocacy efforts across the university.

STUDENT TEAM COORDINATION AND TRAINING
The Office of Veteran & Military Affairs interacts with a diverse team of student and staff organizations that meet on a regular basis.

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION & ASSESSMENT
We provide events, programs, and services throughout the year that help increase access, education, and promote visibility and connectedness.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & ADVISING
We meet individually and collectively with veteran & military leaders to support their personal, academic, and leadership development. We also develop a network of allies committed to supporting the military community.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT
We provide opportunities to be in community and coordinate with partners both on and off campus to streamline and enhance veteran & military university life.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
The Graduate Coordinator serves as an assistant, administrative, and planning support to the Liaison and maintains a concentrated focus on supporting our student , staff, and community groups.

Job Requirements

ACADEMIC
Must be an enrolled graduate or professional student in good standing during the duration of employment.
REQUIRED
Must be able to understand, articulate, and learn issues of concern to veteran and military students, staff, faculty and alumni. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills, be self-initiated with good follow-through, and able to work autonomously, multitask, and manage time effectively. Must maintain a flexible schedule and work some nights and weekends, including events.
PREFERRED
Previous or current experiences in student leadership, veteran & military support services, event or program management, counseling, or cultural organizations.

Compensation $16.50/hour
Job Level CY25: Level I
Hours 6.0 to 10.0 hours per week
