Job Description

Assist the Yale manager(s) (Residential/Retail or Schwarzman Center) with the daily operational functions of their units. Essential Duties of Position: Perform tasks correlated with daily operations, as indicated below: • Gather, review and input/record data • Monitor and identify service issues; communicate to manager or seek resolution • Monitor and identify facilities or equipment issues and follow protocols/procedures as outline/indicated for dining location • Relieve staff for restroom breaks • Document service, personnel, facility or equipment issues • Use of office equipment such as copier, fax, scanner. • Use of POS system • Report any customer comments, concerns, complaints immediately to manager. • Perform closing duties as indicated on checklist. Ensure all kitchen production equipment is cleaned and turned off. Secure unit. • Communicate with the Yale Dining Business Office to coordinate all activities, receive information, participate in training, and discuss new projects. • May be assigned other duties and special project as required or assigned within.

Job Requirements

Must be available for summer sessions which start end of May and go into early August. Summer sessions vary by unit as to specific dates open. Please be as specific as you can be in your availability (dates on campus, days, times).

 

1. Must be a sophomore, junior or senior*. 2. M - F and weekend business hours . 3. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. 4. Demonstrated computer skills (Word, Excel, etc…). 5. Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments in a timely manner. 6. Critical thinking skills: Assess a situation and seek resolution or assistance from appropriate persons 7. Ability to understand and adhere to policies/procedures/protocols 8. Dress and conduct oneself in a professional manner 9. Customer service skills: Friendly, courteous, engaging and respectful 10. Ability to work without supervision 11. Cooperates with management and staff.
