Job Description

The YDS Office of Alumni Engagement and Development seeks a student to join our fast-paced, collegial team as a program assistant. Working primarily with the Alumni and Development Program Coordinators, this role is an exciting opportunity to receive broad professional experience in alumni and volunteer engagement and communications, event planning, basic database operations and research, while working several hours per week.  

Job Requirements
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 
  • Utmost attention to detail and to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential information. 
  • Experience with project management and a solid sense of project ownership, including confidence in seeing projects through to conclusion.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and respond to time-sensitive requests within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to craft professional emails and comfort with speaking with alums, volunteers and donors, via phone or in person, collaborating with faculty/staff, and managing project volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team and independently. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Mail Merge.
  • Graphic design experience (Canva preferred) to format flyers, invitations, social media posts, and other communications. 
  • Preference for familiarity with basic video editing.
  • Familiarity with basic research, both online and archival. Ability to compile and summarize information from a variety of sources to produce factual and evaluative information for use by development officers.
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to provide occasional morning/evening event support 
  • Previous experience in alumni relations, development, fundraising, and/or volunteer management a plus.
  • Willingness to learn new tools a must.
  • Comfort with administrative tasks such as compiling mailing and meeting materials.
Compensation $15.75/hour
Job Level FY24: Level I
Hours 15.0 to 35.0 hours per week
