Job Description

Under the supervision of the PIs Dr. Ambrose Wong and Dr. Annie Harper, providing a high degree of independence and limited
supervision, the part time student will have a unique and exciting opportunity to participate one of our NIH
funded federal projects, "Examining Non-Congregate Shelter Effects on Mental Health Crises through
Community Health Partnerships in Connecticut”. This project aims to use mixed methods to evaluate the
impact of non-congregate housing on mental health outcomes for people experiencing homelessness, with a
focus on the evolving role of healthcare-housing community partnerships in delivering these housing
options. The student will help with qualitative and possibly quantitative data collection, data management,
and analysis. The ideal candidate will have qualitative training and experience. The work is all in-person,
based in New Haven.

Job Requirements

•  Required Skill #1: Excellent time management skills, high attention to detail, superior written 
and oral communication skills, the ability to give and receive feedback, and the ability to work 
independently as well as in multidisciplinary teams. Strong sense of responsibility, 
accountability, and self-motivation.

•  Required Skill #2: Highly organized with strong logistical skills. Ability to provide logistical 
and data management support for in-depth individual interviews and focus groups with participants 
including documentation of events. Intermediate to advanced computing proficiency in Mac & Windows 
OS, Microsoft Office.

•  Required Skill #3: Ability to support recruitment efforts, to complete eligibility screens with 
potential participants, and to coordinate and schedule individual interview appointments and focus 
group meetings. 

•  Required Skill #4: Ability to collect qualitative data through both individual interviews and 
focus groups, manage stipend payments and data storage, and to work with others to analyze the data 
and write-up findings.

•  Required Skill #5: Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field. Demonstrated experience 
with q qualitative research methods including data coding & thematic analysis using software such 
as Nvivo or Dedoose preferred.

Compensation $16.50/hour
Job Level CY25: Level I
Hours 10.0 to 15.0 hours per week
