Are you interested in the history and influence of forestry at Yale? We are seeking a work-study student to examine, digitize, and create website content from print and video materials from the 7th American Forest Congress held in 1996. The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment coordinated the Congress in 1996 and is helping to coordinate the current 9th American Forest Congress. The American Forest Congresses, first held in 1882 and most recently held in 2022, have led to outcomes including: the creation of the USDA Forest Service, establishment of the eastern National Forests, new community-based and collaborative approaches to forestry, and efforts to advance the leadership of women within the forest community. Therefore, we would like to capture the outcomes of the 7th before we head into the 9th. About The Forest School at YSE: The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment is dedicated to education, research, and leadership in forests and forestry.
