About Us 

BrainWorks is a research center within the Wu Tsai Institute at Yale. We house state-of-the-art technology for measuring human brain activity and support projects that contribute to fundamental advances in our understanding of the human brain and behavior. Our mission is to understand human cognition by sparking interdisciplinary inquiry. 

 

Role Summary 

As a Social Media Content Creator, you will work with a small team to help enhance BrainWorks’s social media presence by shooting and editing photographic and video content, writing digestive public science posts, and creating website content updates. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Planning, shooting, and editing photographs and videos (researcher interviews, facility tours, etc.) 

  • Writing brief public science articles and posts (research highlights, paper summaries, myth-busting posts, etc.) 

  • Updating our website content 

  • Occasionally helping with in-person community events (e.g., the New Haven Night Market) 

 

Location: 

  • Hybrid - 100 College St

 

Additional notes 

  • You will not be asked to handle all the responsibilities listed above on your own. Your work will be done in collaboration with a small outreach team. 

  • Photography and film equipment (camera, microphone, and other accessories) will be provided. 

  • Access to a post-production editing software will be provided.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications 

  • Background in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Neuroscience 

  • Basic photography skills 

  • Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe PremierePro/Adobe After Effects/DaVinci Resolve/Final Cut Pro/iMovie) 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Familiar with or willing to learn the public science writing style 

  • Passion for science communication 

Compensation $17.00/hour
Job Level CY25: Level II
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
