Seeking Lead Graduate Research Assistant (Project Coordinator) for Land Use Maps Project–Law, Environment, & Animals Program The Law, Environment & Animals Program (LEAP) at Yale Law School fosters impactful learning and scholarship on the legal, scientific, and moral dimensions of human–animal relationships, empowering the Yale community to advance positive change for animals, people, and the environment. LEAP seeks a graduate student from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) to serve as the lead research assistant (RA) and project coordinator for a Yale Planetary Solutions Impact! funded project focused on developing interactive state-level maps illustrating land use tied to animal agriculture. These maps will be built using publicly available datasets and will inform litigation, policy, and advocacy efforts around climate and land use reform. This student will play a central role in coordinating a small interdisciplinary research team, managing timelines, and contributing directly to data collection, analysis, and strategic planning. The RA’s work will be overseen by Laura Fox, Litigation Fellow, Daina Bray, LEAP Legal Director, and Doug Kysar, LEAP Faculty Director. This position is paid hourly. Hourly rates vary by student classification: $17.50/hour for Yale Law School or master’s students and $20.50/hour for PhD students. The expected time commitment is 6 to 8 hours per week. The position would begin immediately. Candidates who can commit to two terms (i.e., the full 2025-2026 academic year) will be prioritized. This is a unique opportunity to take a leadership role on a high-impact, cross-campus project that bridges research, advocacy, and public communication. The priority deadline is September 5, 2025.
