Job Description

The Office of The Secretary and Vice President of University Life is seeking a motivated and dependable Student Events Assistant to support the planning and execution of major University events for the academic year such as Veterans Day, the MLK Commemoration, and Commencement. This role will also provide administrative and communications support to the events team. The Student Events Assistant will work closely with the assistant director of university events and communications and the program coordinator, gaining valuable hands-on experience in event planning, project coordination, and campus communications.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with the coordination and logistics of campus events, including on-site support. 
  • Support event promotion by distributing posters, managing on-campus deliveries, and assisting with communications and outreach. 
  • Provide day-of-event support, including setup, wayfinding, guest assistance, and other logistical needs. 
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing communications materials related to events. 
  • Work collaboratively with staff and student team members to ensure smooth execution of events and projects. 
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications 

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing. 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Professional, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

???Comfortable performing physical tasks such as posting flyers, setting up event materials, or carrying supplies across campus.   

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Prior experience in event planning, hospitality, customer service, or communications. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Teams, and One Drive.  
  • Familiarity with marketing, promotions, or on-site support for events. 
  • Interest in event management, communications, or higher education.

Additional Details 

  • The position requires some in-person work on campus, including occasional evening or weekend hours for events, as well as certain tasks that can be completed remotely. 
  • Weekly hours vary depending on the event calendar (average 10–15 per week). 

 

Compensation $17.00/hour
Job Level CY25: Level II
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
