Job Description

This is a part time seasonal November 1st 2025 – January 6th 2026 position. Mandatory workdays include November 28th 2025 and December 26 – January 6th. 

Open to students who will be local to Yale during the Holiday Season: The Seasonal Store Lead will become well-versed in Store Merchandise and the artist and makers represented in the store. Spending the majority of your time on the sales floor, you will prioritize a visitor-first focus by actively engaging customers in the store. You will train in and operate the Store POS. This position assists visitors, rings up store sales, performs house-keeping tasks, participates in inventory counts, and fills in merchandise from back stock. The Seasonal Sales Lead is responsible for opening and closing the store and completing nightly financial reports. 
Job Requirements
  • Opening and closing the store, completing nightly reporting. 
  • Accurately processing sales according to Yale Peabody Museum’s procedures.  
  • Exhibiting confidence in selling merchandise displayed on the sales floor.  
  • Engaging visitors and making product recommendations. 
  • Working with the Store Management to maintain the sales floor by straightening, organizing, cleaning, and restocking merchandise throughout the day and at end of shift.  
  • Supporting the Visitor Services team: Act as a resource on product information as well as information about the Yale Peabody Museum. Have a broad understanding of museum programs, the permanent collection and temporary exhibits. Be knowledgeable of the city of New Haven and be able to make recommendations to visitors on restaurants and attractions. 
  • Exemplifying professional and ethical behaviors; follow all Yale Peabody Museum policies and procedures. 
Compensation $17.50/hour
Job Level CY25: Level III
Hours 16.0 hours per week
