Job Description

The Connecticut Emerging Infections Program (EIP) at Yale University is seeking a student research assistant to work on the foodborne illness projects (FoodCORE and FoodNet) The EIP is a joint effort between the Connecticut Department of Public Health and the Yale School of Public Health. The ideal candidate will be a first year MPH student. The qualified student will assist with the following: •Active surveillance for E. coli O157 & non-O157, Salmonella, Listeria, Cyclospora and other reportable enteric infections •Collection of case data from health care providers and medical charts; •Interviewing cases about their illness and exposures •Outbreak/cluster investigations •Data entry, data management, data analysis, and/or miscellaneous projects 

Job Requirements

Must be willing to commit to two academic years if a current 1st year MPH student. Expected time commitment is 10-12 hours/week during the academic year and approximately 30 hours/week during the summer (optional but strongly encouraged) paid internship. Some evening or weekend hours will be required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Telephone communication skills are a must. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest in infectious disease epidemiology, public health surveillance, and public health research. 

 

Compensation $17.00/hour
Job Level CY25: Level II
Hours 10.0 to 12.0 hours per week
