Job Description The Yale Athletics Video Production Assistants are in charge of producing video content for the Yale Athletics website (www.yalebulldogs.com) and the Ivy League on ESPN, including features, interviews and live broadcasts. For samples of videos, visit yalebulldogs.com. In addition to producing video content for all 35 varsity teams, Yale live streams home games/events for sports such as basketball, crew, football, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, squash, tennis and volleyball, in addition to other select events and promotional shows. These live broadcasts are available on ESPN+. Video Production Assistants are in charge of all aspects of producing, which includes setting up the equipment, troubleshooting problems, operating the cameras and computers, creating graphics and editing. This job enables you to learn practical skills, meet people with similar interests, gain valuable experience and develop references and work samples to add to your resume and portfolio. Yale Sports Publicity Department student workers have gone on to work for places such as Major League Baseball, the NBA, NBC Sports, the New England Patriots, USA Today, the Washington Post and others.
Job Requirements Experience with audio-visual equipment, and familiarity with covering sports through video, is preferred. Proficiency in video editing -- Final Cut Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop) -- is very helpful. Punctuality, ability to work as part of a production team, reliability and a general interest in sports are essential. This job requires work on nights and weekends.
