Department Description:
The Collections Information Access department of the YCBA is responsible for sharing the museum’s art collections with visitors via the museum’s online collections catalogue and with cultural institutions at and beyond Yale University. With more than two thousand paintings and nearly sixty thousand works on paper, the museum’s art collection is the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the United Kingdom.

Project Description:
Working under the supervision of Emmanuelle Delmas-Glass, Head of Collections Information Access, the Bartels Academic Year intern will work on the ownership history of the painting collection with the goal of publishing it to the museum’s website. The intern will work independently and in consultation with the museum’s curators and archivists to contribute to provenance research currently underway. The intern will conduct research by consulting sources outlined by the department and work in the museum’s art collection database (TMS). The intern will gain valuable skills in provenance research; the YCBA’s painting collection with a focus on John Constable, George Stubbs, and J. M. W. Turner; collection data management; the museum’s online collections catalogue; and interdepartmental collaboration.
