2026-2027 Academic Year YCBA Bartels Internship: Archives Application Deadline: May 1, 2026 at 11:59pm Department Description: The YCBA’s Archives is the official repository for all historical documentation of the museum, recording its development from its inception in the mid-1960s to the present. The holdings include information on past exhibitions, publications, programs, and events, as well as the art collections and the building and its subsequent renovations and conservation. The Archives also holds collections pertaining to the life and collecting of Paul Mellon, organizations and individuals affiliated with the YCBA past and present, and artist’s manuscript collections. The Archives department arranges, describes, preserves, and provides access to archival material in all formats. The department also responds to internal and external reference questions and assists with the YCBA’s outreach and instruction efforts. Project Description: Working closely with the Chief Archivist and Archivist, the intern will collaborate on tasks that assist in processing, organizing, and cataloguing of The Magda Cordell McHale and John McHale archives, which consists of professional and personal papers from these two artists and scholars. The professional papers include their research, correspondence, drafts, and manuscripts for the Center for Integrative Studies. The personal papers are comprised of family letters and correspondence, financial and tax documentation, photographs and slides, homemade books, passports, and films. |
