Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Saint Thomas More Communications Department seeks a motivated and creative student worker to assist in the development of print and digital marketing content for the Catholic Chapel and Center at Yale. This is an excellent opportunity for a student with an interest in communications, digital media, photography, or nonprofit marketing to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The student worker will support the department’s output across social media, newsletters, and web platforms, while helping document the life of the STM community through photography and potentially other media.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Development:

  • Draft captions for STM's social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Assist with development of e-newsletters, webpages, and print materials.
  • Document STM events and programs through high-quality photography for use across digital and print channels.

 Administration:

  • Assist with administrative tasks and general upkeep for the Communications department, including contact management and data organization.
  • Facilitate event registration for programs and events at the Golden Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising Communications staff member.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE

This role is based at the Thomas E. Golden Jr. Center on Yale's campus. Hours are flexible and will be scheduled in coordination with the supervising staff member, not to exceed 10 hours per week. Some evening or weekend availability may be required to photograph STM events and programs. All hours and pay are administered through the Yale Student Employee Portal.

Job Requirements
  • Currently enrolled Yale University student in good academic standing.
  • Interest or coursework in communications, marketing, journalism, graphic design, photography, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  •  Basic photography skills and comfort using a DSLR or mirrorless camera preferred; smartphone photography considered.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Constant Contact (or similar email marketing platforms).
  • Familiarity with Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  •  Strong written communication skills with attention to detail and ability to write for varied audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the mission of Saint Thomas More.
Compensation $17.50/hour
Job Level CY26: Level II
Hours 4.0 to 10.0 hours per week
